Mumbai, 07 th June: Punjab FC emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the Dream Sports Championship by defeating ISL counterpart East Bengal FC 1-0 in the final. A solo goal from midfielder Arshvir Singh, which came in the first minute of additional time in the first half was the differentiator of the closely fought battle. The Shers’ U17 team brought in the academy’s second silverware of the season remaining undefeated.
Though East Bengal had a better ball possession in the game, but the Kolkata giants got hardly any clear chances inside the box. Punjab FC’s young defender Pramveer was outstanding today in the field. Down the right-wing substitute T Rishikanta also showed his brilliance by combining well with right-back Usham.
With today’s 1-0 win in the final, the Shers lift the title without conceding a single goal in the entire tournament.
